Thanks, 42rocker, the welds just looked so poor on the adapter/head, I didn't think they were military - perhaps just a different era to the rest of the piece. The MG42 and M53 fit fine on it. They are post war, WW2 style, which will work for me - but yes, the grips are not actually WW2 era, for sure.

Yes - I'd like to know too. Please do post results. Could be useful - for movie use they like the cases spraying out.
