Rates of fire........ You can change the "rate of fire"/RPM (Rounds-per-minute) in the MG42...or MG1...or MG3 in a couple of different ways. Some of these are, but not limited to: 1: Bolt-weights: There are standard-weight-bolts=Fastest RPM. There is a slightly "heavier" standard-weight-bolt=Fast RP...

Abwehr, Go back into the old issues of "Small Arms Review".......one of the older issues had an article about weapons in Yugoslavia, about the time they were doing some articles/visits to that area.....the article showed piles of unissued MP44 series assault-rifles, and crates of MG42. They went int...

Sir,
Your MG42 was made as serial number # 41076 ....the "d" refers to the 40,000 range....(IE: a= 10,000 b=20,000 etc.)
Be safe, RichardS.

Abwehr, First...let us get the terminology correct: Booster-Cup: Large-Diameter Cup under the Flash-Hider. It has a measured hole in the front that directs gas-pressure to the rear when the bullet exits through the hole to operate the recoil-system. The Booster-Cup has six (6) slots cut into the bas...

Goesboom, Take a quick look at the front of your trigger-group and see of you have any brass-marks from the fired shell-case hitting when ejected. The MG42 ejects straight downward when the bolt hits the recoil-buffer.....this makes the cases eject downward and turn at a 90 degree angle towards the ...

No.....the MG34 was machined with close tolerances to where it effected reliability....not to count the extra requirements for machines, time, and money to build these with. This was why the WWII German military-machine was looking for a replacement for the MG34 as early as 1939. When Germany (West ...
