Re: Advice on .308 build

Allllllllllrighty then......I guess this akward silence means I need to spend more time with my search fu. :search Let me ask this in the mean time. If I use a WLA FFL receiver to attach to my shroud, does it require that I use their FCG and grip or can it work with the BRP mods(grip and bolt) or Pi...

Re: Advice on .308 build

You know, the more I try to read up on which receiver to go with the harder it gets to choose the right one. :puk: I see FFL receivers like Wise Lite and BRP. 80% from Philadelphia Ordinance, ColdSteel, and Prexis. Halves from BRP and Wise Lite. Or just scrounge up a reweld. Some of the posts on her...

Barrel just arrived and looks excellent.....nice buy for $79 :bnija:

Now just 2 more packages of goodies, and I still have to make a decision about the receiver.

Re: Advice on .308 build

Feedtray arrived yesterday and it looks like new :cheer: Now the wait for the other three orders. It will give me more time to research which receiver route to take. Any opinions for ease of build? So far it seems the WLA will be the easiest, especially since the ratchet plate is already installed n...

Re: Advice on .308 build

Well, just got off the phone with Brian from BRP. Have been trying for a couple of days to coordinate our schedules to place an order. I was able to pick up an MG3 flashhider and barrel guide, bushing repair piece, cam screw and nut, recup plunger, recup screw set (L screw), and a set of rail rivets...

Re: Advice on .308 build

Thanks noon, After more thought, I kind of like the idea of using M13 links ( I think I can get ahold of some) rather than belts, so this pushes me towards the MG3 route. I see Robert has MG3 topcovers and he also has the flashhiders but is out of feedtrays.... guess I will have to get on the email ...

Advice on .308 build

I am in the gathering phase of a .308 build. I started off with a Centerfire 8MM M53 parts kit w/ no barrel (that my lovely wife gave to me for Christmas!) I just put my Dutch bid down on Gunbroker for a Steyr .308 barrel (19 more available for $79 from IO) :wnana: I have read through the stickies a...

Greetings and Salutations......Again!!!

Hi all, Have been away from the site for quite awhile (years) when I traded my MG42 kit for an M14. Before Christmas I drifted back over and got the fever again. I asked the wife for one of the CenterFire M53 kits and lo and behold she got me one! I am now at the beginning stages again of a build. M...

Pirate,

I am currently waiting on a debt to be paid to me and then I will have you convert my gripstick and bolt. :D
Do you have the bolt rail rivets available??? I would just as soon order everything else I need at the same time to complete my build. Thanks,

Thanks Abwehr, My build is a .308 kit from Dan so I am hoping per your info that all my belts will work. I have read a couple of different posts here that discuss the postwar belts working better with .308. The quality of the belts was very good considering their age. I was curious about the postwar...

Forgot to post that i finally got this together. I had to put the parts in the vise and squeeze them together that way. Then it was just a matter of sliding in the pin. Boy that sucker was tough. Several of the pieces to include this sight looked like new including the springs.

Decided to come in and take a break from trying to align my front receiver piece for welding. You never really notice how much you use that portion of your thumb until you tear the hide off of it. That sucker is tender today and it seems like everything I do I wind up bumping it on something. :WTF: ...

Latest WECSOG injury

Well, i've done it again. Once more while attempting a great display of WECSOGing fame I have managed to inflict pain and blood loss on myself. I managed to slice the skin off the corner of my thumb while prying on the barrel change flap with a spoon. Oh yeah...did I mention I was in the kit...
