MG42 Trunion Replacement - Need Help

Greetings, Recently installed a rebuilt recuperator. Everything seemed to fit and work until I went and fired. Took 3 barrels; one fit perfectly and held in place for several hundred rounds. When installed, the other 2 popped the barrel door open after the second or third shot. Catching points on th...

Re: German WWII Ammo

Guess there is not much interest in this stuff. Rather surprised.

Guess I will just shoot it up.

Thanks for looking.

German WWII Ammo

For sale or trade are several batches (more than shown) of 7.92mm ammo (mostly made in 1936-7) in 15-round boxes. I also have 2 each unopened cardboard boxes with lifting strap containing 20 each 15-round boxes. Some of this ammo is AP and some is tracer. I think most all is brass cartridge cased; i...

Parts Dimensions

Is there anywhere in this site which contains the dimensions of the boosters, muzzle cones and bushings.

I am trying to sort WWII German, Yugo and modern made German made parts and am curious about the hole sizes in these items.

Thanks for your help.

Re: 308 MG42 Ammo Reloading

Great responses; thanks to all. I have been told that the German machine gun makes make the chambers a little tight because they heat up so quickly once firing begins. There really does seem to be a difference between the size of brass coming out of a US made reloading die and the size of ammo made ...

Re: 308 MG42 Ammo Reloading

Thanks for the reply and information. When I reload, all my reloaded rounds fit into the Lyman and RCBS 308 cartridge gauge as all should. However, they drop only partially into the barrel chamber; they miss about 3/8-inch going down all the way. When you compare military made (German or US) 7.62X51...

308 MG42 Ammo Reloading

I started reloading once fired 7.62x51 military surplus brass for my 42 after 8mm got more expensive. I immediately found that most sizing dies (including my new small base die) do not bring the cartridge cases down to a size that easily fits into a 7.62x51 barrel. I have several barrels and some fi...

Re: Mg42 8mm barrel

I have 8mm German WWII barrels; a couple are brand new and have a "k" stamped in the barrel. I think this means they are chrome.

Let me know if you are still looking.

Re: The Recuperator

This is a great description. I replaced my recuperator recently after many frustrating attempts to get it to fire correctly. The most common result was light primer strikes when I tried to fire. After installing an old M53 part from a spare parts kit, it worked just like designed. This description p...

WTB New MG42 Recoil Spring

Would like to get a couple of new recoil springs; prefer those still in factory storage wrap.

Thanks.

Re: Rubber bumper to protect shells from damage

Again thanks for your reply. Might just have to submit a BATF form to allow me to visit with you sometime. I plan on being at the creek again this Oct and perhaps we can get together. I would really appreciate someone to look over my gun. I went out again this afternoon with all my spare parts and f...

Re: Rubber bumper to protect shells from damage

John, thanks for the response. I used a small bolt instead of a rivet because I wanted to be able to replace the tubing as required. I also cut a small hole in one side of the tubing to allow me to put the bolt in and when screwed in it pulls itself into the inside of the tubing so that it is not on...

Re: Rubber bumper to protect shells from damage

Has anyone ever tried to simply screw the hose to the front of the trigger guard? I bought a 53 trigger group and tried but the weapon did not fire. I think the trigger group was non functional; have not had a chance to get out and try again. I don't know enough about this weapon to know if my brass...

Re: Receiver Diagram Link

Has anyone ever thought of trying to thread a hole in the front of an old trigger group and attaching a piece of the rubber hose? I have had some less than good results with the homemade version of case dent preventer.

Yes, they have not removed them from their web site but have no idea when they might be available again. I had already signed up to be notified when they were back in stock. There is a place in England that has them but they charge about 30 pounds to ship.

WTB 7.62x51 Ammo Can and Demiled Barrel

Looking for half dozen or so ammo cans to hold 308 ammo; not the older 8mm cans.

Also would like to find a demiled barrel in 308 with a good and not worn out chamber.

Thanks for looking.
