8mm x 57 Mauser Headspace Gage Variations & Measurements

This link is from Foster Gauges: http://www.forsterproducts.com/resources/distributor-resources/8mm-x-57-mauser-headspace-gage-variations-measurements/ Was thinking of purchasing a MG34 barrel for a spare and don't have any 8mm headspace gauges. In my search for gauges, I got this info. Old 20° 48” ...

Re: MG34 to MG3 Lafette trigger problem Reply to m4a1sof

That's the same issue that concerned me as I have an AA tripod as well. I am planning on milling a clearance slot down the bottom middle of the adapter so I can install it over the retainer clip. I'll post back if that works. Have you done this already? Would like to see pics. Milling was my first ...

Re: Questions on MG34 accessories

I learn something new everyday. Here is the site I bought it from BRP in the gunner's kit. http://www.brpguns.com/categories/Parts-and-Kits-Web-Store/German-WW2-Firearm-Parts-and-Accessories/MG34/MG34-Tools-and-Accessories/ And a picture of the kit. This kit has the wrap still on it, but you can mak...

Re: Questions on MG34 accessories

Thanks jbaum, Holding down the belt starter tab....DUH!!! I had no clue. Something like that just amazes me on how a designer/engineer installs detail that how many other people today would know. Thanks for that info. Here is the pic of what my Yugo broken shell extractor and canvas receiver cover l...

Questions on MG34 accessories

On the mg34 canvas receiver cover there is clip/clasp, of different mfg. & designs. But they are all to clip on something. Anyone have a clue on what it was used for? Also on the mg34/42 drum basket, on the side close to the cover hinge, there is a rectangular metal loop of some sort. Does anyone kn...

Re: WTB: MG-34 Butt housing catch

I live in the state of Indiana within the US. A form 6 is an approval Form required by the BATF to import or export firearm Items. you have to be pre-approved. Now knowing that it includes any machine gun parts, screws, sights whatever. Even if it's going on a semi auto. I really don't know how all ...

Re: Semi TNW sear

Thanks Harry (messerschmittfan) I think I covered all the areas to polish (I hope). You did mention that: (I have seen the roller (s) too far up or down on the trigger bar. and they must exactly in the middle so that the same amount of roller is exposed on the top and bottom of the bar.) Right away ...

Re: Semi TNW sear

WoW Did I join a little to late? A lot of lookies but no cookies. I'm just looking for what parts I can polish to make a nice smooth release. The lower trigger assembly is nice now out of receiver, smooth pull only resistance is the trigger return spring which can be lightened. I used a molly dry fi...

Re: Spring is in the Air

Thanks for the reply Jbaum I'll have to try that. I used to be a reloader : Dillon RL 450/550 press , at the time I bought it I think it was just called the 450. No trays on the sides just one to collect your bullet when done and no primmer buzzer to let you know you were out. All those bells & whis...

Re: Spring is in the Air

Correction.. My standard 45 1911 has a 5" barrel the recoil spring is 6" long. Sarco's mg34 springs are 5" long. With Sarco's spring there is a greatly reduced charging pull & trigger pull. Now I really wish spring was in the air, I can't wait to try it out. I guess nobody here has tried the 1911 re...

Semi TNW sear

Can somebody explain how TNW's semi sear works? I see how the trigger gate hits the sear to release but I don't understand on how it's holding of the firing pin. TNW's set up is all in a horizontal holding and movement of the firing pin. And TNW's small sear spring doesn't look strong enough to hold...

Spring is in the Air

Well not here in NW Indiana, it's cold & more slop to come. I'm talking about the Mg 34 firing pin spring. I'm replacing TNW's to get a better cocking pull on my 34. I ordered two firing pin springs from Sarco Inc $5 each, everyone else is out. Not knowing if these springs will be worn out, but from...

Hi Everyone,

In my readings over the last week, I see many talented people. GOOD!!!
I'll be asking many questions on my week old TNW MG34. Have not even shot it yet.
I'm an old fart that just retired and now just want to have fun.
