Re: Time for Change.

I had a board years ago, before everyone could get internet access. Glad to be here as a member, and happy to have this board now. Thanks go to Salt6 (Steve) for getting this board going, keeping it going for all these years, and now wanting the board to continue as his priorities have changed. John

Re: Rubber bumper to protect shells from damage

One of the nice things about a curio and relics license is that you no longer need to fill out paperwork to take an MG to another state. The C&R license is your authorization to transport a C&R gun. $30 for 3 years. Worth every bit of it to keep from screwing the the interstate authorization...

Re: Rubber bumper to protect shells from damage

The function of the trigger group can be checked out of the gun. When you pull the trigger, the rear arm lowers and stays lowered when you release the trigger. When it's in the gun, the rearward traveling bolt has a tab on the bottom of the bolt that hits the small lever in the top front of the trig...

Re: Rubber bumper to protect shells from damage

If you don't care about the trigger group, you could pop rivet the piece of hose to the front of the trigger guard. Just don't put the rivet or rivets where the shell hits.

Re: reloading for semi-auto mg53

If you already have 42 and 45 grain loads, why not make a belt with 43 and 44? Mark each belt, and listen to the gun run when you shoot them. The gun will tell you when you get the right amount of powder, as it will run with a cadence that isn't there with too little powder, and doesn't run any bett...

Re: MG blew up in my face! Need help

Reminds me of an old saying:

Technically it's possible to have a mule climb a ladder. But it ain't gonna happen.

I hereby officially give up. I've tried several times, and it just isn't working.

Re: MG blew up in my face! Need help

messerschmittfan is absolutely correct. With that much of the chamber missing, I'm surprised the first three shots didn't blow too. Looks like that barrel is scrap. Where did you get it? As I too have said before, messerschmittfan is absolutely correct. This problems is caused by the back of the ch...

Re: MG blew up in my face! Need help

It is a very simple measurement Actually, it isn't. There are two different ways to measure headspace, one for rimmed cartridges, one for rimless. The methods for measuring each are quite different, as they measure different dimensions of the chamber/bolt area. You're shooting a rimless cartridge, ...

Re: MG blew up in my face! Need help

Headspace is not measured by the gap between the bolt face and chamber face. That measurement is only indirectly related to headspace. I wrote a detailed explanation of properly checking headspace on the 42 on here years ago. Do a search.

Re: Pricing of semi MG/M53 now in 2017?

The recoil spring Is supposed to reach from the rear of the receiver to the front edge of the feed tray, according to the manual. They can be longer, that is the shortest it's supposed to be.

Re: Pricing of semi MG/M53 now in 2017?

Since the MG3 is still being made, having a valid, factory set of specs for the receiver isn't going to happen. Lots of people have spent time measuring their receivers, and several posts have been on here showing drawings with dimensions. Whether or not they're correct is anyone's guess. The recoil...

I've never seen anything about barrel bearing length in the manuals, and don't know how closely matched the Yugo version is compared to the German.

Did BRP sell all those can they had"

Watch gunbroker or here for a .308 barrel. They're around. I sold my last one I wanted to sell at the Rockford reenactment last fall. Ebay has had barrels too, but usually at an outrageous price.
