Re: WTB 7.62x51 Ammo Can and Demiled Barrel

Did BRP sell all those can they had"

Watch gunbroker or here for a .308 barrel. They're around. I sold my last one I wanted to sell at the Rockford reenactment last fall. Ebay has had barrels too, but usually at an outrageous price.

Re: Pricing of semi MG/M53 now in 2017?

FMJ ammo is not required. The gun doesn't know if the bullet tip is hollow or pointed. If I'm shooting 8mm Mauser, I use reloads since it's cheaper than factory, and I don't trust surplus. The initial quality of manufacture is usually a known thing, but how long and how well it's been stored is a bi...

Re: Pricing of semi MG/M53 now in 2017?

They're fun when they run right. I've had my MG42 for 20 years, and have not experienced any problems getting it to run well. I don't run 40 year old junk ammunition in it either, so you may well have spotted the reason for one gun to run poorly (the full auto), and another to run well (the semi). B...

Did you mean MG1(one) feed tray instead of MG!(exclamation point) ?

Re: Pricing of semi MG/M53 now in 2017?

I don't do the semi 42s, so it may well be worth more. Gunbroker would be a good place to watch to see what the latest selling prices are. For a full auto, it's around $40,000.

$800

Well, that's the hakentt that we all remember.

$3,000 would be closer to reality.

Re: MG08/15

The single best operating manual for the MG 08/15 would be HDv 368. There is also a parts book with everything listed and named, and a very well illustrated picture book. See www.Germanmanuals.com for details and pictures of each.

Re: New Production 8mm Ammo

What I referred to when I wrote PRVI Partizan ammo was PRVI Partizan ammo. That's the name of the company that makes it. It's the name of the company that's stamped on the box it comes in.

Re: 8mm Romanian surplus

I'm confident that Brian knows how to make a recoil spring with the correct specs. The fact that it doesn't look like the original when compressed would be irrelevant, as function and appearance are not necessarily related. I'm not an engineer, so giving my thoughts on the recoil system and exactly ...

Re: 8mm Romanian surplus

The ejector should not interfere with the cartridge now. If it does, you have a problem. The ejector button on the back of the bolt hits the buffer when the bolt recoils. That makes the button bump the ejector bar (inside the bolt housing), which pushes on the ejector to eject the empty shell downwa...

Re: Help with Build

Welding the complete receiver together before you cut out the grip hole is called making a machinegun receiver without a license. It is suggested that you fit the grip stick before you fully assemble the receiver. Maybe assemble the back half, fit the grip (cut out the hole to size, and the full aut...

Re: 8mm Romanian surplus

Is your gun full or semi auto? This isn't what you asked about, but I do have to ask. Why would you even try to run the gun with the muzzle booster partially unscrewed? It is not a gas pressure adjustment. If you've been reading the US government book on the MG34, it is totally wrong about saying th...

Re: New Production 8mm Ammo

The only way to know if an particular brand of ammo will work in your gun, is to buy a box or two and try it. PRVI Partizan ammo is known for being underpowered, which is a bad thing when trying to make it work in a semi. It may work fine in a full auto 42, but the semi guns are close to the limit o...

Are you sure it isn't the Israeli symbol? The K is odd shaped in that, since it's not really a K. A picture would be good.

Re: First Time Buyer

In assault mode, you're supposed to fire 3 - 5 round bursts only, so a 50 round belt would last for 10 targets/shots. It was more of a point and shoot method, rather than shouldering the gun and actually aiming. Firing from the hip isn't difficult, just make sure you get one foot back far enough. It...

Re: First Time Buyer

I have a manual that explains indirect fire and indirect aiming. The Germans really had it all figured out. The German scopes are 3 power, fixed. The lafettes had searching fire devices built in, which used the guns recoil to operate an automatic elevation mechanism. Just set the stops for highest a...

If the gun is on a Form 4, the seller transfers it directly to you if you have the C&R license (which is an FFL, so it comes directly to you without going through a dealer, because you ARE a dealer (limited to C&R guns). With most any MG that is sold, the seller holds it until the paperwork ...

Re: FA MG42 continued to fire

38 grains is a pretty light load for a 42. If the bolt isn't thrown 100% to the rear, the sear doesn't catch the bolt because it isn't far enough rearward, and the bolt comes forward again without being caught. If not that, then either the disconnector is worn (at the front of the trigger group and ...
