Re: WTB. Great condition original MG42 Tripod

Most people learn early on that anything from IMA is a crap shoot, and that paying for the "hand select" upgrade is dubious at best. I've bought nice stuff from there, and I've had a few items that were crap. It's just the way they are.

Re: WTB. Great condition original MG42 Tripod

Would it be correct to believe that what you want is actually a lafette, and not the tripod? They're two different things for the 42. The lafette is a ground mount that can have a telescope mounted on it, it has a searching fire device and mounts the gun securely in place. The tripod is like a big t...

Also bear in mind semi 42s are kind of a nightmare to get running correctly. Thats why most folks only work the FA ones.

Re: Please help me find a legit builder

The limiting factor is how many people are licensed to build the gun. Most builders are home do-it-yourself types. Building a gun for someone else, even if it's just building (welding together) the receiver, requires a license. Most people with the necessary skills don't have an FFL manufacturer's l...

Re: MG42 Value

I don't watch prices on mg42 semi stuff, or Yugo. I have too much other stuff to watch that I'm interested in buying. I was trying to get a cherry Browning Hi-Power 9mm from GB tonight. Just had to give it up when it got to $1,000 more than I wanted to pay. "Wanted", not "willing if I...

Re: Replacing Mg34 extractor.

It's a whole lot easier with the tool. If you watch ebay, you'll see one for sale sooner or later. They show up about every 2 years. Really... not a common tool to find.

Re: Mg42 recoil spring

With the rear sight flap flipped rearward, the spring should reach from the rear of the receiver to the sight flap.

Can't say about the length of a new spring.

Stay dry down there in Texas. :)

And I in Ohio shoveled some more mud today. I hope for below 30 degrees, just so the mud will freeze.

That first link isn't for $3500, it is for 3500 British POUNDS... that's $4400 US dollars.

If anyone thinks the spade grips are too expensive, here's a link to an ebay ad where a set sold for $801. Charlie Jones and I sell MG42 spade grips for $475 + $18 shipping. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Doorgunner-Griff-fuer-MG42-MG53-MG74-MG3-kein-Wehrmacht-/202529049363?nordt=true&orig_cvip=true&a...

Re: Yugo M52 Lafette

I talked to Orin. He doesn't know what ever happened to that manual (misplaced/lost/sold). I tried to buy it from him. I learned enough Swedish to translate the manual for the 20 mm S18-1000. I could take a shot at the Yugo lafette manual if someone has that, but going through all that for another o...

Re: MG42 Troubleshooting

I'm guessing that the rub is only on one side of the brass? If so, it's from getting jammed into the barrel extension. Provided the stripper head on the bolt isn't chipped, that only leaves the possibility of the depressor plate being incorrectly bent. In the top cover there is a finger (depressor p...

Board down

I finally found the corrupt file that was causing the problem with the forums on Saturday. I replaced the file with a backup and everything seems to be working OK now.
