Re: MG34 Jig Rental

Hiya Bil. I'd say let's eat some king crab, but the radiation and chemo pretty well destroyed my taste buds, and most foods don't taste right yet. I keep hoping it'll get better, but at least I don't puke on food anymore. Next time we're both healthy and within a few hundred miles of each other, we'...

Yeow. You lost 2 days. Last time I fell off a roof I only lost about 5 minutes (I think). It took about 8 months before that last rib decided to quit moving around though. At least you didn't do the broken neck thing. We're getting too old to be doing this sh!t.

Deckungswinkelmesser - Variations

Here's the first of a 5 part series. This deckungswinkelmesser (deckungs = cover, winkel = angle, messer = measurer) is an odd variation that I've only ever seen one of (and this is it). The gauge inside is calibrated in degrees (instead of mils), and percent. The body and outer frame of the deckung...

Obviously a photo opportunity and not combat. Who would want hot brass falling out of the gun and hitting them on their bare chest and belly? Whew.

Re: What did I find???? MG42 Front Sight area

And for anyone interested in a well made set of spade grips as shown in the pictures above: They are a copy of the German made MG3 helicopter door gunner grips. They use a buttstock cup from an MG42 stock and can be installed in a few seconds. Just twist off the buttstock, and put the spade grips on...

The Lafette wrench - What does it do?

Attached are some pictures of 3 variations of the lafette wrench, and what the wrench is used for on the lafette. Since the lower part of the MG34 lafette is the same as the MG42 lafette, the wrench works the same for both. The Norwegian wrenches are easier to find, and not as collectable as the Ger...

Re: A book

There are too many variables to write it all in a manual and have it work with what everybody has as a kit and how it needs built. Front end cut off with a bandsaw, or destroyed by a torch? Replacing the front bushing or rewelding? Receiver in pieces, in quarters, halves, or whole? Single piece firi...

Re: Looking for M53

If that's what you want, you'll likely be able to find a dummy gun at one of the larger gun shows, or maybe find one for sale that doesn't work (built crooked, etc.) and just not fix it. It may or may not still be classified as a gun, but for the right price, you could do a small bit of welding and ...

Re: Looking for M53

Buying one that's already assembled and running is great if you have the money to spend. Building one will save you thousands of dollars, which is compensation for your time and frustration. Which way to go is something you must decide for yourself. Finished guns appear listed on here for sale somet...

Just checking to see if uploading DA's photos is possible..... Yup, works for me.

DA: Post the pictures on the board so they don't get lost. It's easy, and it works. See below for proof.

Re: Seeking a gunsmith for a Wiselite M53, Frustrated and Out of ideas.

Glen (flemgunner) is fully capable of taking a pile of pieces and making something that works every time. His problem will be finding time to do it, and like getting anything fixed that doesn't run (washing machine, car, or gun), probably won't be able to tell you the cost of fixing it until he actu...

Re: On the Eastern Front, Mariongrad.

I am always annoyed when ebay sellers advertise a Yugo sling as "genuine WWII German". Especially when people pay too much for them because the seller said is was German and the buyers don't know any better. Education, by reading or researching in other ways, is always a cheap price to pay...

Re: Replacing locking rollers

Different bolt/roller design. The rollers themselves don't set the headspace on a 42, it is the roller pins. With a 42 bolt, the roller pins can't be a different diameter, because they wouldn't fit right in the bolt head if they were.
