Re: MG34 Lafettes for sale Heads up

That first link isn't for $3500, it is for 3500 British POUNDS... that's $4400 US dollars.

I doubt that permission is necessary - he's the one who uploaded them on here in the first place. They may even still be here, somewhere.

Re: Yugo M52 Lafette

I talked to Orin. He doesn't know what ever happened to that manual (misplaced/lost/sold). I tried to buy it from him. I learned enough Swedish to translate the manual for the 20 mm S18-1000. I could take a shot at the Yugo lafette manual if someone has that, but going through all that for another o...

Re: MG42 Troubleshooting

I'm guessing that the rub is only on one side of the brass? If so, it's from getting jammed into the barrel extension. Provided the stripper head on the bolt isn't chipped, that only leaves the possibility of the depressor plate being incorrectly bent. In the top cover there is a finger (depressor p...

Good to see you're still around Bil. Those huge crab legs are in the $60 range now, but if you feel the need and are in the area, let me know. :)

Board down

I finally found the corrupt file that was causing the problem with the forums on Saturday. I replaced the file with a backup and everything seems to be working OK now.

1919A4, 1917A1, Garand manuals

Normally I don't do U.S. manuals, but I made an exception with these three: U.S. Browning 1919A4 Overhaul - WW2 Military Issue Browning 1919A4 Base Shop Data - The U.S. military manual for overhauling the 1919A4 belt fed Browning machine gun. This was published at Rock Island Arsenal in August of 19...

Re: SA M53 cycling issues

In your first message, you say the problem has been with 8mm ammunition. A new feed pawl assy. may cure the problem if the springs are bad. The MG42 rarely has problems with pulling the belt into place.

Re: SA M53 cycling issues

The .308 cartridge is fatter than the 8mm. Sometimes the 8mm feed pawls won't consistently work with .308 cartridges. The difference between the two is the pivot point location. The .308 pawls have a slightly offset pivot point which gives the pawls a little more travel so that they jump over the fa...

Re: MG42 Trouble Shooting Testing Discussion

If that happened with me, I'd reduce the powder load. There is no advantage of having that much power that it tears the brass apart. Also, make sure your chamber is clean.

Re: MG42 Trouble Shooting Testing Discussion

With new brass, I load and then reload for 2 shots total before I start inspecting the brass for stress lines in the sides of the cases. Stress lines appear where the brass will crack/tear if fired again. I've had very few cases that made it past 4 shots total before the darkish lines appeared. When...

Re: MG42 Bolt locking

In your pictures, you have the cocking handle pulled rearward. You aren't putting the cocking handle into the gun with the handle rearward, are you? The handle should be forward when you put it in the gun. It is designed so that when you initially pull it back with the bolt forward, it gives you ext...

No. There are no markings on them to identify sizes.
