Re: MG34 Training Rounds

I checked the muzzle device on the MG34 and it was off had to adjust the space and it now I am able to get some bursts but rarely. The first round usually goes in too steep like in the original picture I posted. When I do get a burst (no more than 3 rnds) it stops when the round misses the chamber a...

Re: MG34 Training Rounds

Yeah, that's all it was I ran a 50 round belt through it an no issues, consistent rate of fire. As for the 34 its been awhile since I experimented with it but I will check the same issue. The recuperator spring is new and I changed the spring in the cartridge depressor with one similar but stiffer, ...

Re: MG42 Bolt Body Issue

I think I just discovered the issue, it is the DAG muzzle device. When I screw it all the way on I noticed it pushes the barrel back about a quarter of an inch so the barrel is not able to fully extend during operation. Attaching an MG3 flasher hider does not do this. I think this explains why I am ...

Sorry have not been on the site for awhile and just saw your post. the rate of fire with the DAG rounds is about 1000 rpm.

Here is a video of my wife shooting the plastic rounds https://youtu.be/iRq1-D_-dj8

Re: MG42 Bolt Body Issue

http://www.mg42.us/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=13583&p=96621#p96621 Link above is an example of what it is doing, it is a pic of my 34 from a previous but same exact issue. It's kinda funny because I was referred to you for that problem, just saw the response today but I kinda gave up on that issue. On the...

Re: MG42 Bolt Body Issue

Thanks for the response Richard. We recently replaced the barrel shroud with an MG3 shroud and the trunnion with a new HK one and I have been concerned that it was not properly aligned. I am using an MG3 booster cup and I am using the DAG muzzle booster which is basically a piston. As far as I know,...

MG42 Bolt Body Issue

Can anyone tell me what is going on here. I have had two body bodies crack in the same exact location. Gun is a Post Sample built in 2010 currently set up to shoot the plastic NATO DAG 308 rounds. Both bodies are Yugo, first one survived around 10,000 rnds of 8mm, 308 and the last 4,000 rnds have be...

MG34 Training Rounds

Ok I have an MG42 that is adapted to fire the 308 NATO training rounds for use as a rental at my indoor range. So I have been trying to adapt the MG34 to use the same ammo. I already adapted the MG42 Ü muzzle device to the 34 and it will fire and eject the plastic rounds the problem I am having is i...

MG17 Belt Feed Adapter

IMG_20131123_155400_600.jpg A while back I purchased a belt adapter for a MG17 from a guy in Latvia. He claimed that it had come off an Messerschimtt 109 but he made reference to the plane being twin engine so it may have been a ME110 or may not have been a Messerschitt at all, I am not sure. Anywa...

Re: Bolt Catch Question

Yes it is legal I am an 07 SOt and I built the gun in 2010. I purchased the second from a site that had it listed as a post war version. I was told that there was a war time version and the one I have is from a Yugo kit. I just assumed that it was the war time model because I have seen both the late...

Bolt Catch Question

Just wondering which bolt catch version is best to use in a FA MG42/M53. The pre-war design seems to be more reliable but I had heard there were some drawbacks with using that one. Also I am wondering if the post war version I have is correct, the ones I have seen with the flat catch have the anti b...

Re: MG42 Problems

Problem finally has been solved, it was the booster cone assembly. Rate fire has been dramatically increased, I wasn't expecting it and it knocked me back on my butt. Thanks everyone for the assistance.

There is plenty of clearance for 8mm just wanted to be sure that it would not produce too much back pressure, thanks.

Re: MG3 Booster Cone

The barrel bearing hole measures around 9mm the flash hider hole is about 10mm. The site I bought them from stated that they need to be drilled to MG42 specs. There is adequate clearance so I was not clear on the exact reason for the drilling, thanks.

MG3 Booster Cone

I just got a new MG3 flash hider/booster set for my 42. The booster hole diameter looks to be exactly the same size as the barrel. I was wondering if I needed to drill out the hole to a larger size and if so what size should I start with?

Re: MG42 Problems

What I referred to as the cup is the nozzle, the part that sits inside the flash hider. The Spring is 16 inches and it is only a few months old, it was brand new when I bought it. The ejector has been replaced, I replaced all the bolt parts with new ones except the head and the body attempting to so...
