Re: Lafette to gun fittment

The BRP trigger pack doesn't fit the Yugo or MG3 style actuator. I trimmed the mg3 one and it worked good, I intend on making a copy of the Yugo that will fit. I've been kicking myself for wanting to see it on the mg3 so bad that I trimmed it. For me it would be easier to mill it from a block than b...

Re: Lafette straps

Interesting. I looked at the pics on the site real good because....... I ordered a 42 sling from RTG and the poor quality of the hardware made me send it back. The grip side unit had the hole drilled offset so they "swirled" the drill so the pin could go thru. The pin barely made it more than half w...

Lafette straps

Somebody over there must be sitting on a pile of carry straps or used them for something else. Has anyone worked on getting them reproduced? It seems like none of the Yugo units are coming with them.

$32 to the snowed in Northeast via UPS. Packed nicely with the corners extra wrapped in a big box. They are a bit slow with email but will get back to you.

Lafette on GB

A heads up to anybody looking for one, search auction 466492885. I got the $500 one and it's pretty clean,he has a bunch. Some new and some with German markings. It's the first time I purchased thru him and it went very well with reasonable shipping. He didn't get the AA sticks unfortunately. Not aff...

Re: No dice.. Semi Auto MG42 to light primer strikes to fire

Only the kicker was ground on for this go around. 100% with FN and 90 % with Romy and it sounded good. It doesn't make sense that the kicker would affect subsequent rounds so I guess it was just a good day. All fired from tripod. The trigger trip needs to be cut down for the BRP pack. Had some more ...

Re: Anyone built a semi MG3? Recouperator question

Just throwing it out there, I don't know. I don't think the recoup would be a problem with the semi because it's a function of the booster nozzle sizing? That is done and over by the time the semi issues pop up. Looking at the 2 I think you have to commit to the mg3 during the build. At first I thou...

Re: No dice.. Semi Auto MG42 to light primer strikes to fire

That might have been one of my more coherent rambles. Guess who just got back with some Romy and freshly dimpled primers? It didn't really sound great when the charging handle was released. Started running the bolt assy. and it felt fine then the charging handle. Really took a lot of effort going in...

Re: No dice.. Semi Auto MG42 to light primer strikes to fire

The late 60's FN tracer that is out there works when Romy won't. If it lights with the FN get out the Dykem and color up the hammer and bottom of the BC. 1851 said something that doesn't get mentioned enough. These things don't work out of the box even if they tested ok by the builder. It can take m...

Re: Looking for welding repair help

Bending it is only valid if the 3 points were on the same centerline and parallel when new. If they weren't, like this one, you're moving the problem around and using your running tolerance to achieve your assembly clearance. It might work but require more gas than an aligned gun. Your 3 points are ...

Re: Camming section rambling

That value is .495".
So 3.077 TOR - 2.601 TR STOP = .476"
Rought row.
.495-.476=
.019" short.
Expected accuracy is probably around +/- .005
So using a typical value from BRP 3.100-3.077=.023"
2.61TST - 2.601= .009"
More later.

Re: Camming section rambling

The shim stack value is .224" and the pin .125 for a total of .349". So 3.077 - .349= 2.601 for a TR stop value.
Now we need to see what the TR actually wants. Find a know good block and set the TR on it where the stops hit. Measure from the block to the back edge of the cam thingy.

Re: Camming section rambling

So that had a value of 2.824". The .75 par was .127 and the 1.38 was .126 So 2.844+.127+.126 = 3.077" Now we need a TR stop value. Probably easiest with shims and we are looking for a comparison here more than a true distance. A piece of drill rod is best to find the edge, a drill bit might rest on ...

Re: Camming section rambling

Flip the order of the last pics, I never get that right. Using the BRP drawings for this area you need to come up with your numbers. First is getting TOR. His typical value here is 3.100" The bolts are only light finger tight, don't bend things. Notice how they fit against the edge, it's not always ...

Re: Camming section rambling

So you've got your front half and the CS doesn't really fit up right. If you're going to make a shavings generator, hammer away. If not this might give you some ideas. First pic shows a flush fit of the CS to the rcvr with the CS pushed on as far as it will go. Make sure the weld seam isn't sitting h...

Re: 2 Blanks boom, then nothing, nothing, nothing

You're right, I wasn't clear on that. The top/back cuts are for clearance in the back of the BC slot near the spring pocket. The slot/hammer can also be an issue. I haven't seen much attention given to locating the bracket. The location on one drawing for the bracket rivet came up short of getting t...
