Re: First Time Buyer
FYI, sounds like a great gun. I got my FA MG42 a couple years ago and never regret it. BTW, I've also purchased several non-MG42 MG's that were safe queens and one a museum gun that all had problems that cost $$$ to get professionally restored so I could shoot them. At least with the ones you know a...

FYI: Lafette mounts/etc for sale at auction
Just a FYI for anyone interested. As I was looking thru online live auctions this morning, I saw multiple Lafette mounts, 52, going up tomorrow. Also MP40 mags, 288, and a MG42 kit w/ a display gun and parts. Sometimes these can go cheap, but usually not. Lot#'s 2354, 2355-69 and 2627-32. https://ww...

Re: Spade Grips for the MG42 (not M53)
Got a sets of grips thru jbaum and have worked great. 3 sandbags on front leg of MG3 AA tripod and very little movement. Easy to shoot and even easier for others to use who never shot a MG42.

Re: AA Tripod with Bum Leg
For a temporary fix, you could put some sort of adjustable pipe clamp around it and tighten when you get it adjusted to the desired level. I put 3 clamps on mine just for safety reasons when I attach my 1919a4 Full auto with 3 ammo can mount because of weight.

Re: Spade Grips for the MG42 (not M53)
I missed the Creek but would like to buy one if still available. It'll make definitely more fun shooting off the MG3 AA tripod. I have setup for my 1919a4 just like it.

MG42 AA Tripod ammo can holder ideas
Is there any new or old adapter to mount a German ammo can on the MG42 AA Tripod with the MG42? Just using the 50 rd drum mag goes too quick. Thanks

Re: MG42 just picked up

Not that this is the correct forum section, but my understanding on the 308 conversion is I can use my mg42 8mm top cover with a modified 8mm feed tray and 308 bbl. I'm just confused on which parts or all of the booster assembly is need...

Just got my transferable MG42 today on way back from Knob Creek. I had nice talk w/ John Baum there and got some good advice. Hope to shoot it soon.

Thanks. I'll check the extras after I pick them up next month. Thank goodness it takes a year to transfer, so I have time to learn about it.

Re: Transferable MG42
I accepted a price of $38k for the package deal with a 50/50 payment. Looks like I'll be burning up the ammo next year. Anyone to suggest to go over the gun and get it checked out/refinished when I get it?

Re: Transferable MG42
FYI follow up. I offered $36k but wasn't acceptable to seller. Now unsure if I should've just taken it at seller's asking price since it was so complete with all the extras/etc. Thanks for the help anyway.
