Re: Receiver Locking cams

KC651, You are using the correct terminology. Those two pieces are the bolt locking cams. I'm sure you know the following, but here is the explanation for someone reading this who might not know: The cams are like little ramps riveted into the very front of the receiver. They guide the bolt rollers ...

Re: Outer cam wheels smashed up

I am familiar with sear problems in the TNW MG34 and several things could be the cause. You said that "the sear lever has completely lost grip of the sear ring". Are you saying that the sear is releasing during the cycle--the sear arm is not staying "caught" on the sear ring as it cycles into batter...

Re: Outer cam wheels smashed up

I am not a gunsmith, but I know the TNW semi pretty well. I had to work through lots of issues with mine. Unless there is an "illusion" in the photo of the receiver cam, it looks like at least one of the cams is grossly short. That results in the bolt rollers on that side being dumped into a steel w...

Re: still fishing for cali grip opinion

Here's a picture of the two panacea grips for the MG42 semi. As you can see, the one on the right takes a standard screw-on AR15 grip. Don't screw it on and you have a gripless trigger pack.

Re: still fishing for cali grip opinion

There are several options for CA grip compliance, both for the MG42 and MG34. MG42. Member panaceabeachbum made several grip packs for the semi MG42. These were newly made--machined grip packs that were designed to work with AR15 FCG parts in a semi MG42. He offered them two ways: 1) With a full gri...

Re: 4.5v battery use in optics battery box

If you have an unmodified box that uses the 4.5v batteries, it's not difficult once you see it. You simply bend the leader tabs down the sides of the batteries and then insert them head first into the box. They stand on their heads, so to speak. Once bent down, the tabs are in position to make conta...

Re: Optics question ??

And it has been discussed here, as well: http://www.mg42.us/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=4916 Note: if you have an unmodified box, it takes three of the Euro 4.5v batteries. If, however, it has the post war mod (fiberboard insert plus brass tabs riveted into the lid), then it will run on 2 D cell batteries....

Bil, as I look back over your first post I see now that you were thinking of 42's there, too. Doh! Oh well, we cleared that up so at least the newbies won't be even more confused. Don't you wish we still had the edit function? ha ha So to answer the original question, yes, BRP has nice 34 kits and t...

Re: Prices on current kits?

You are right, the supply is running out.Especially for the original German guns.I think we will still see some bargains on the yugos, under 300.They will also go up.I think that we will be seeing some of the yugos coming to the markets like gunbroker,as some of the folks that bought them decide they...

Re: Prices on current kits?

We have to face reality that the regular supply of kits has dried up. It had to happen sometime, with WWII having ended 62 years ago. There may yet be some dribs and drabs which will flow in, but I'm not counting on that. I did most of my "shopping" already. Two to three years ago, I used to regular...

Re: Panzer bbl shroud

Artie, The plum red color on the front section is correct for some examples. I have one with a deep plum front section. Until I saw other examples, I also thought that it was some sort of rework color but this just appears to be how the bluing came out on some of them. Just this past weekend I saw p...

Do you have a link to this on their site? I looked and did a search for "tripod" and I didn't find it.

Collimator Find

So, the last of my gun porn pics for today. I found this MGZ40 collimator a while back and it just showed up in the mail, three months later! It has some condition issues, but it's rare piece to find in any condition. There is a small, loose rectangular lens floating around inside. When I feel like ...

Old style MG34 AA Tripod (pre-dreibein)

At a recent show, I found an old style MG34 AA tripod. It was missing two connector struts for the legs but the vendor thinks he has them back at his shop. I found a reference to this tripod in several places, which mentioned that it was the same tripod used at some point for the MG13. In one of the...

Authentic Spring Tube, or Not???

I bought this MG34 recoil spring tube out of Europe. I assume that it is authentic but I have heard that there are fakes out there. Any thoughts on whether this is definitely genuine? It's mighty clean; has cosmoline inside with the spring.
