Re: Price check: Reweld all original MG42 Semi
Most likely the answer you get is your really not supposed to sell what you build unless you have an FFL. Building a gun is legal but only for your personal use without an ffl. Also I wouldnt want the possible liability issues with a reweld. Even though im confidant in my abilities I wouldnt sell my...

Re: Bolt hold open
Here ya go. No biggie. Its an early IMA cut rear with an m53 front half. Tried to weld and keep the waffens intact. Theres a weld very close to the arz waffen in the pic. Ive got some minor things to add. Rivet heads where there are holes. Chose to weld a few things. Fired a belt this weekend ran gr...

Bolt hold open
Here is an idea for a BHO that I implemented on my 42 build. Simple, looks like it belongs and releases easily with the thumb. Welded on a small hooked extension and tab and a block on the ratchet plate for it to grab. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/snekrz/IMG_20111218_142449.jpg http://img....

Re: Gripstick Cut Info
I used a dremel and a mini mill to get mine where I wanted it. Test fit it a little at a time. Works great. Still had to trim the hammer and non critical part of the disconnect a little though.

Re: Flash hider adjustment
Yep thats what I figured. I dislike loose things on my firearms anyway. Im guessing it would have to have to be so loose as to let the booster push forward in the hider increasing the distance from the muzzle. Not something Id want a bullet going through.

Flash hider adjustment
Ive heard of people unscrewing the flash hider a bit to try and adjust the recoil characteristics a little. Can this actually bleed off some gas if its overgassed? Im thinking if it does maybe a way to find the right booster size without battering the gun.

New PIC thread for lost photos etc
Here we go. Just thought this might be a repository for some lost pics. Maybe a mod can group the pics or add onto this thread different sections. Here are my contributions. Im posting in thumbs because several of the images need to be original size. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/snekrz/MG4...

Re: pictures
Just an idea. Why not have a sticky thread where we can post the pics that we have of prints and assemblies and specific parts that were downloaded to our PCs over the years. Ive got a few that Id gladly put up.

Re: Finally Success! and some issues ;)
I picked up a smaller booster and simultaniously found that my buffer was mis aligned causing the bolt to bind. So now I believe im overgassed as the bolt is bottoming out on the buffer spring. Is it possible that it could cause the shells to eject a bit sooner than they are supposed to? Ive still g...

Re: Finally Success! and some issues ;)
Ok so it passes the field gauge. Bolt head wont go into the locked position with it. Looks like its well within tolerances based on the amount the rollers move which is very little. So the split cases might be generous chamber with steel ammo? Bolt slap was fixed when I fixed the safety. Any chance ...

Re: Finally Success! and some issues ;)
Well I didnt headspace it yet. The bolt matches the barrel and camming piece. Ill get a headspace gauge asap. And the Romo is 1974 vintage not 50s like I thought.

Finally Success! and some issues ;)
First things first. (hope the video works) http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/1003/snekrz/MG42/?action=view¤t=DSCF0155.mp4 Have 4 issues. First the brp grip safety hung up the disconnector for some reason. I limited the belt to two rounds and the RSOs watching behind me never heard the double :...

Re: Different looking booster
No problem Frank thats really the info I was looking for. Its an SA but I was a little worried about the reduced "ports/scallops" at the bottom of the booster.

Re: Different looking booster
Booster function question. Correct me if im wrong but its only the front orifice and not the scallops or cutouts on the bottom of a recoil booster cone that effect on the overall recoil because the impulse of the gasses have already started pushing back the barrel by the time the barrel bearing move...

Re: Different looking booster
I ordered it from iron creations llc. Came with a barrel bearing which is normal. My concern is the total area of the scallops is much less than the mg53 booster. Would this increase back pressure beyond safe limits? Also if you look inside theres a ring around the bottom that provides a close fit t...
