Re: bnz MG42 Barrel with a “ch” marking
All joking aside (Well, just for now) my mistake...as this barrel in question is not Chrome lined....or does it have a small “cr” near the extension....just the letter “c”. So, it is of my belief that the “ch” stamped on the barrel near the bnz shield with the number 1....is a production year! Now, ...

bnz MG42 Barrel with a “ch” marking
Gentlemen: Can anyone tell me what the letters “ch” on a bnz MG42 Barrel denote? Is it that it’s Chrome lined, as it definitely is? However, it has a “cr” marking near the extension piece, and I thought that “cr” was the indication on the barrel that it’s lined.....not “ch”? I also wonder if it is a...

Re: M53 Production numbers
Of further interest, you stated that you didn’t think the Yugoslavs made near the number (700,000) that the Germans did. However, the M53’s that I’ve seen all have five digit numerical sequences...as low as the 10,000 range and as high as nearly the 61,000 range. I’ve seen the letter prefixes beginn...

Re: M53 Production numbers
Yes, I agree. As to whether they were made on German machines, or presses, that I’m not too sure. It’s my opinion...that the Receivers were not, but the remaining parts may, or could have been.... I’d love to be able to find out more info on these. I have taken many pictures over the years of receiv...

Re: Is there such a thing as a “dfb MU” Bipod?
OK, then it must be that they only made Bipods for the MG34, and not the MG42? It might be that any Bipods for the 42 were simply 34 Bipods modified for use on the MG42?

M53 Production numbers
Well, since we’re seeing more people ask about M53 Receiver sections, I’m curious as to whether anyone might have an idea of the production figures on these? Their designation of M53 denotes that they first came to manufacture sometime around 1953, but did the production proceed until the end of 195...

WTB Original WWII German MG42 Buffer
Hey, it’s me again....”Mr. Looking to Buy” :cross: So, im looking for a nice still with original bluing on the rear portion of an original WWII Bruffer group for the MG42. The original unrestored ones should have everything Blued with the exception of the spring, that should still be in the “White”....

Re: IMA German MG42 rear reciever pieces
I think it depends on the type or means of cutting the sections, ie., torched, or saw cut. Secondly, if Torch cut, how bad is the corrosion as a result of that. And lastly, are the rails removed, and how? Some cut rear sections are all but ruined due to torch cutting, corrosion, and rail removal by ...

Re: WTB. A minty condition WWII MG42 Bipod. NOT YUGO!
Again, thank you 42rocker. Yes, I’ve been absent from this Forum for a time now....as far as any postings...but have been viewing and learning. I started collecting these items in the early 80’s. I purchased many wonderful pieces, but had to sell mostly all of it due to “Life” calling with other res...

Re: WTB. Great condition original MG42 Tripod
Thank you 42rocker. It’s my fault, as I didn’t quite take my time in that postings composition...I quickly wrote what I was thinking....and not to the extent that would have been most clear....my mistake. This Forum is educated, and they “Schooled” me as to what I should have stated. As I get ready ...

WTB. Great condition original MG42 Tripod
Also looking to buy....a great Museum condition MG42 Tripod. I don’t want the reconditioned Yugo, but as great as I can find to have a nearly unupgradable original tripod. I pay a great price, for what I’m looking for!

Jack

WTB. A minty condition WWII MG42 Bipod. NOT YUGO!
I’m looking to purchase a minty condition original MG42 WWII Bipod....not a Yugo M53 version. I’d like to find one that still has its original 95+ % bluing, and adjustment knob to vary its height. I had one that was beautiful and 43 dated...but sold it about 15 years ago. So, if you’re interested in...
