Buttstock ID help

In the first picture, what are opinions on the 2nd and 3rd wood stocks? The far left is bakelite WW2 German and the far right is post war German poly, however the wooden ones are a bit of a mystery.

The two wooden stocks fit WW2 German buffers with no gap. The buffer cups are unmarked.

Re: Waffenmeister must have had a rush day....

Wow, did not know that. I have the late war welded type (without the adjuster) and have never taken it apart. I'll have to check that out.

Thank you!

Re: Waffenmeister must have had a rush day....

Bingo. I have both a Yugo bipod and a German one. The Yugo doesn't traverse (head rotate) at all and the German can pivot about 20-30 degrees left and right. I'm not aware of any bipods that rotate a full 360 or 180 for that matter (haven't had the opportunity to check an MG3). If I installed either...

Re: Roman numeral markings?

Found some more. This time on a bpr feed tray. Although this looks more like an "A" but, the font is the same.

Roman numeral markings?

Anybody know what these are? Or have you seen similar on your guns? One “V” located on interior right side by the ejection port and another “V” also on right side below the flash hider detent. Gun is coded as 1944 Mauser Werke Borgiswalde assembled and arz (Deutsche Kühl- und Kraftmaschinen Brand-Er...

Re: Interesting MG42 flash hider

I haven't seen one exactly like that but, I have a pic of something similar. Granted, it's a rusted and pitted battlefield find but, it was described as an "very early style" hider and was attached to a 1942 cra marked receiver.

Correct bipod position?

Are the bipod legs supposed to angle back towards the gunner or forward from the gunner when firing? Most combat pics seem to indicate that the bipod should angle back and it would seem you would want to counter the recoil effects by using it this way. But then I've read that this is incorrect and t...

Buttstock ID

Can someone ID this one? I've rarely seen pics of this type and my guess is postwar MG1.

And does anybody know when they switched from wire wrap over to the metal "strip"? Was it a Waffenmeister field mod?

RTG parts has barrel extensions for $15.95. They may require some work to remove the torchcut barrel though.

Odd belt w/ starter

Here's a new one (for me anyways). Haven’t seen this discussed in any of the main literature before. A 50 round Gurt 34 with a permanently attached early Einfuhrstuck. It's marked with a maker's code of “B 6.40” and a Waffenamt of 642, which is Dr. Ing. Boehme u. Co., Werksleitung Luedenscheid Werk ...

Lafette straps

I know this issue has been discussed in detail in the past but, many of the photos have dead links. So I am posting this in the hopes of proper identification. Can someone render an opinion or surmise origin of these Lafette straps? The leather has no visible markings and the snap hooks appear to be...

German buttstock?

Looking for help in identifying this as real or fantasy piece. The stamps look a little too clean and the buffer base piece isn't marked.

What say ye?

Re: Gurt 34/41 (Belts)

Well, that kind of leads me to my followup question....

Figure 514 in Volume I of Folke's book shows that (some?) 1st models have the stiffening grooves and dimples. I didn't see any examples listed of the "smooth" kind.

Gurt 34/41 (Belts)

I have noticed that all of my belts dated prior to 1941 are groove and dimple free like the attached image.

Are these the "1st model" Gurt 34/41?

Granted, I haven't seen too many of these for sale but $300+??? Will be interesting to see where it ends up.

And weren't' there a batch of repos floating around a few years ago? Is the listing the real deal?
