Re: WTB, MP-38
"......I know it is, but this will be my last machine gun....in this lifetime,ha!...." You know Bob, just about every time we see each other, you make that same statement. I think it's more that you want your wife to believe it, than you expect us to believe it. I don't think you're convincing anyon...

Re: blank adapting the mg42/m53/mg1-3
……..…..I would love to have just one of those original wood-tip blanks, for my collection. ...I have only be able to find Egyptian 7.92m wood tip blanks years back...…..as hard as the MG-42 bolt & F/P slams into the primer of those blanks, I can only get 40% or so to fire...….I have about 500 of the...

Re: Best Way to Sell Ammo
Good ideas from John....>> Maybe you should wait until the election is over:> ...If she wins, we are in trouble, and you'll be able to ask a lot higher price, because there will be such a panic, in the way of buying, that we have not seen yet.

Re: blank adapting the mg42/m53/mg1-3
Yah, Mike, ...as you know , I am a big one on cutting the recoil spring down, when setting the gun up for firing Blanks. ..........and I do this on both the 34 & 42, FA and when I had both in SA form. ...Folk in his big book on the 34 & 42, even mentions that the unit waffen-meister had to be carefu...

WTB: MG-42, 2-piece Blank barrel; (Blanksguy's)
.....I already have one of (Richard's) "Blanksguy's" MG-42 , 2-piece blank barrel, with both the 8m & 308 inserts. ..~I have found in re-enactments, especially public events, one blank barrel is not enough to maintain sustained fire....using one blank barrel, forces me to slow down & even cease firi...

Re: best oil/grease for maintaining mg's
I agree with John Baum, and go even further..>> For me, I prefer a wet gun, for even in re-enactments with blanks, we are usually in sterile or near sterile environments......Changing hot barrels & spraying oil on them to help them cool faster, plus using the two piece blank barrels, I lube the smal...

Re: Shooting Romanian vs PPU "Sniper" ammunition
I don't worry about primers that are backed out a bit when shooting 308. It happens in mine sometimes, when I belt my handloaded 308 tracers in the 308 belts. (& I'm using regular rifle primers in the civilian cases) ...In the case above, a primer may pop out & subsequently gum-up the works a bit, t...

Re: blank adapting the mg42/m53/mg1-3
Zamex;....Don't cut away coils of your recoil spring, until you get one for the purpose of use with blanks. Once cut, it won't work piecing together. .........Right from the beginning, your trial of laying a blank on the feed-tray slot, & trying to fire/cycle it without the belt, and failing, is a b...

In my fa MG-42, I am using one of 'Blanksguy's' 2-piece 308 blank barrels..> It works magnificiently with all military 308 blanks from all the brass Austrian 308 blanks, US-GI bottle neck & crimped 308 blanks, to the German green & black plastic 308 blanks. ....All I do is changed the threaded plug ...
