Re: MG3 Tripod Optics Battery - Usable??

The MG3 light assembly works quite well with the MGZ-40. I was thinking about possibly making a period style battery box to go with it.

Re: Need help with Lafette restoration

The sewing is not hard. Position your covers were you want them and use clothes pins to hold them in place. Use an awl to make the holes. With a needle on both ends of your thread start next to a leg, pull a needle through the first hole to the middle of the thread. Go to the next hole and push one ...

Re: My Project

Check the firing pin hole in the bolt head. If it is not supporting the primer you could have piercings even with the correct protrusion. Gas erosion will tend to open/bevel the hole. Your project is looking great!

Re: Best Method to make the retracting handle grooves?

If the plate is mounted square and proper take a small drill bit and drill a couple of alignment holes for reattachment before removal. After your machine work use the same size bits to locate the plate for welding. Weld the holes up after you are done and grind flush.

Hey Pit,
It looks like the D-rings on your mount might have been opened for removal at one time and not fully closed.
Nice mount!

Re: Lafette scopes

Having never disassembled the scope for a MG3, could the prisims be used for repair parts for the MGZ's that have missing parts? A $80.00 donor would not be too bad.

Lafette scopes

I know that they are making reproduction zf-4 scopes, has anyone heard of someone making new mgz-40 scopes for the lafettes? Seems like a winner.

Isn't the red/orange piece on the rails a lock to allow blank firing? Nice rig!

Perhaps making your receiver take a special shorter barrel would help the approval.

Blitzbikes shows a repo mg34 top swivel mount under the kubblewagon section of parts. that plus a mg42 aa post would get you going I think. Goodluck!

Re: A different kind of safety

The long rod on the end of the trigger can be fragile. Also with the welded in trigger stop there would have been no way to remove the trigger. This way all of the internals can be changed for repair without grinding and welding.
