Re: Brp receiver and shroud manufacturer???

This would not solve your shroud problem, but I would give ColdSteel a try for the rear section. Yes, the early brave builders in the beginning had to overcome some alleged quality control issues with Coldsteel, detailed in at least one early build on this site. HOWEVER Coldsteel seems to gave grown...

Re: Mg42 receiver for sale

If building a 42 was easy, everyone would do it. That's why the 42 builder smiles at people who "build" an AR15. It's because he knows that an AR isn't built, it's just assembled. There IS a difference. BUILDING a 42 is an entirely different beast, requiring skills, not just a barrel wrench and but...

Re: Is my semi MG42 supposed to be making this noise?

Okay here is a super stupid thought, if all was fine before-and since these parts develop their own unique wear spots, could it be possible that your barrel is re-installed upside down so the barrel block side is facing up which was previously facing down? This is not a functional issue, but on a re...

Re: Happy Birthday Bil !!!!! 10/15/2017

BIL, that is a terrible way to spend a birthday. Having just read of the incident, it was auspicious beyond words that you did not damage your spinal cord. For lingering aches and pains never under estimate the healing power of a good, organic, hexane-free, castor oil pack. Glad to see you surviving...

Re: Dummy gun prices?

Just remember, and you likely know, if you choose to list on Gunbroker, their search pattern for their site is VERY picky, unlike many sites whereby you only need to be close, that is not so on GB. If you were to search for Mg34's and type in "Mg 34"" then any listings of "Mg34" will not show up, so...

Re: Time for Change.

Salt6/Steve your initiative to create this website engendered countless builds and saved many builders from dangerous/deadly mishaps while guiding them along their journey to reanimating historical semi-autos, one kit at a time. The tome of knowledge on this site is like no other on the Internet. Fu...

Just a quick note on the headspace, you would be surprised how many barrels/bolts match up just fine and how many do not, once put to the gauges.

Re: Approval letter

If you have a new design, then you must contact the ATF Tech Branch at Needy Road and make sure you have the credentials before you submit the design. In most jurisdictions a civilian can legally build a rifle (that includes semi-autos assuming no laws are violated i.e. SBR regs) however if your des...

Re: WWII MG42 on vehicle use

Great thread, great pictures, too bad more of these artifacts were not saved. For instance over 12,000 B17s were produced during WW2, yes many were shot down/damaged, however each state capital should have been given a compliment of US planes and captured Axis equipment for museums.

That is a fantastic 08 "CaptMax" :wnana: Be sure to talk with Dennis about the process, he has not worked out all the bugs with the semiauto 08's/Type 24's YET, but he is very close. Last I knew he was still trying to get the best design for the trigger bar replacement since the 1910 bottom-protrudi...

Re: Spade Grips for the MG42 (not M53)

Jbaum your friend may want to consider trying a licensing deal (making an m53 prototype) with WLA or BRP Guns for the thousands of potential customers living in Blue State Hell (aka those living under retarded "assault weapon bans" in the Northeast). It may not make him rich, but could bring some ex...

Re: Want to refinish my MG42. Options?

Certainly park, or duracoat are strong, but given that it is a C&R, if it were myself, I would take the time to consider the hotblue process, or at the very least, if you have the time and patience, consider doing a rust blue (not toxic, MUCH nicer than any cold blue, and you can do it yourself).

Re: Buffer cam pieces, clean up or buy new?

First congrats on your journey to rebuilding the iconic Mg42/M53. Second w/o pictures to see how badly yours are damaged it is hard to tell what you are up against; Though the vast majority of de-milled M53kits now just give you the buffer tabs attached to a small piece of receiver, then you merely ...
