Re: FA bolt blocker - help the new guy

I would use the BRP bolt blocker. The other methods would work, but the "factory" method is a little more "offical" looking. The dremel method will work well, just take your time and good luck.

Re: Rivet Hole Repair

Harbor Freight sells transfer punches cheap. The only problem I have had with them is when I need a steel rod for a project I will use one of the punch rods so the sets are no longer complete. When I did the coldsteel receiver it had no rail hole so I lined the rail on the outside with two holes (I ...

Re: TIG Welding Filler

I used copper clad steel on mine and black oxide on it with no indication of a color diference between the Yugo shrould, weld and coldsteel reciever. http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j25/bolex_2006/receivercompleted4-1.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j25/bolex_2006/receivercompleted5-1.jpg ht...

Re: Securing your 42/53

I once lived in a house that the stairs going to the basement were between three block walls and there was a landing at the bottom. The upper section of the stairs were hinged at the top and would lift up. Not light, but with the carpeting there wasn't a way to see that it moved. Out of sight, out o...

You may want to invest in an auto-dimming helmet to prevent burns on your neck. Your project is looking good.

Re: WLA M53 range report

I coated my belts with Molycoat (dry film lubricant)and have had no problems so far. The belts were new 308 and I am using 8mm in them with no sizing. Just another option.

Re: Legal question. Can I sell my own built semi MG-42?

You can sell it check out the BATF web site for information. That said if you do sell it you can/will have some liability if someone gets hurt using it. This can be from a malfunction or even misuse by a person using it.

Re: How to start tig Arc?

That's the one! The first project I did with it was my MG42. Worked great. I wish I had gotten a TIG before my MIG, Stick, and Oxy-acetalene (sp?).

Re: How to start tig Arc?

I own a Harbor Freight TIG and have used it with a copper strike plate. You need the Argon gas on or you will burn the tungsten rod. Pirate had a tutorial on welding somewhere with the HF TIG.

I disagree; welding up a 3 or 4 piece cut receiver IMO would be the most "authentic". A lot more work.

Re: 922r compliance

It appears that WLA is building their M53 to be compliant to 922r. One statement is that the WLA M53 had enough compliance parts and the other statement is that WLA has a compliance part count form. My question is: What MG42/M53 parts are being counted for the 922r requirement? viewtopic.php?f=9&t=7...

Re: When did BATF approve the homebuilt Semi 42?

Once again (and I feel I am beating a dead horse here) an individual (not a business) may build a rifle for their own use (ANY rifle, BP, Bolt or Semi) without any permission from BATFE. This is in their own regs. Sale of such requires manufacturers markings per regs. Dan There are some restriction...

You can remove a little off the feed tray if needed. Would take more off the receiver before I started on the feed tray.
