The oxy mapp/propane setups from HD are good for LIGHT duty stuff, but have SEVERAL drawbacks. First, you only get about 12-14 minutes run time per oxygen bottle. (those bottes will set you back about 8 bucks a pop and you will loose a few minutes adjusting the flame) Secondly, they only work on the...

You say you have the money to get the gun built. That's what I would do. You can always make more money. But WWII German MG42 receivers haven't been made since Adolf finally did the right thing. I gotta tell you, Its been a shitty week. My project Camaro blew a head gasket and is stranded 20 miles ...

Build it, sit on it, sell it? Need suggestions. (long)
I find myself in a dilemma. I have a Yuge kit in great shape, and a German 4 cut receiver. I spent quite a bit on the receiver (it was still a steal) and now am faced with what Im going to do with it. MY options are 1) built it 2) sit on it a while 3) sell it all. Now the way I see it, building it i...

Prices to weld up a 4 cut?
My German 4 cut is sitting in my parts box and is driving me crazy! What is the general running price to weld this thing together? Anybody running any super deals around here? I know there is a guy here offering services @450, but I was wondering if I cleaned it up or did some other kind of prep/fin...

I got on board the 1919 site about 2 years ago as it reached its maturity. I became one of the regular members there during my build, and went to the sight 2-3 times a day for help. This site has the same potential, Id just love to see a step by step building tutorial like 1919a4.com has. The sticky...

Any other 42 sites out there?
Are there any other sites out there dedicated to rebuilding and collecting the MG42? I love this site, but it just seems that there should be more out there in the world of the internet about building a semi? Im sorry if I sound blasphemous (sp?) Im just trying to gather all the info I can. This is ...

MGMIKE! DO NOT USE GUNBLUE!
MGMIKE, duracoat 'gunblue' is a purple color that was designed to match old fashioned blue of yesteryear. It looks like crap. I did an AK47 in 'gunblue' and almost crapped my pants when the thing came out plum. Avoid it at all costs. Stick with 'HK black' or 'black oxide.' Good luck. Hey waffendude,...

OK, I need a receiver or some receiver sections!
Guys, in the 4 short weeks that I have been a member here, Ive been obsessing about putting this thing together. Ive got my parts kit all cleaned up and Im learning all the little details. (I gotta say my 1919 was SOOO much easier) Now Im left finding a receiver. SO far Ive been offered some 4 cut G...

Is there a pin or rivet for the camming piece?
The kerosene bath is done and Im doing an inventory of my Sarco kit. Is there supposed to be some type of pin that holds the camming piece together? The parts diagram on this site shows something, but I cant tell if its a pin or long rivet. Other than that, so far Im missing the front site base, but...
