Also the German Army was pretty anal about using the proper equipment. It looks like they are posing shooting at an aircraft but are not using their anti-aircraft sights which they are suppose to be carrying with them.

Re: Reloading thoughts
John-- I totally agree with you on the Dillion Press. Great company to deal with. I would like to list several of observations on reloading for the semi-auto MG42. Unfortunately I am not allow to own the "dangerous" full auto MG42. I reload for both 8mm Mauser and 7.62mm NATO. The one thing thing I ...

The Imperial marked slider is probably for an Imperial German Mauser 98. It looks like the slider on my Imperial German Navy 1898 Mauser.

Re: 1910 Maxim Sokolov Mount Part Required
Andrew-- These cross bolts are very tough to find. The cross bolt is actually held to the gun with a chain which is why you probably did not get yours with the mount. Collector's Source had repros of the cross bolt several years ago. I see they are no longer listed on their web site. Its would proba...

Re: MG42/59 Identification
I believe its an Italian made MG42/59 in 7.62mm NATO. Most of the parts are manufactured by Whitehead Motorfides Factories (letters WMF and the small emblem) for Beretta. Whitehead is primarily a manufacturer of torpedoes. Whitehead changed its name shortly after the gun was manufactured. Whitehead ...

Re: Question about NJ Law and semi auto
I will try to answer your questions as best I could in Red below: So if I bought it less receiver I can have it sent as parts kit correct? There is nothing illegal about owning a parts kit in NJ. However if you intend to have a newly manufactured semi-auto MG42 receiver shipped through an FFL. The p...

Re: Question about NJ Law and semi auto
Hi folks-- I just want to clarify several aspects of the NJ gun laws. Please don't flame me as most of these laws are the result of a decades old entrenched "democratic" political machine. We in NJ have been fighting to get these laws repealed and resisting any new ones. This thread is to focus on t...

Re: Wehrmacht uniform questions
anjongni-- If you have additional pictures of your relative especially his right collar and right sleeve it would give us an idea of the unit in the NSKK (National Socialist Motor Corps) he was part of. Originally part of the SA, the NSKK was separated from the SA in 1934. The NSKK was responsible f...

Looks like a Obertruppfuhrer (Senior NCO) in the NSKK. His right sleeve should have the NSKK emblem.

Bolt Hold Open & Improved Grip Mount Ear
Folks--
42rocker asked me to re-post these pictures of the bolt hold open device and improved grip mount ears that I put on my semi auto MG42.
The hold open device was made from a Metric FN FAL Bolt Hold Device.
Enjoy!

Dan was a true friend who would help you out in a heart beat. He put the extra effort to get me some MG42 parts and an Israeli built M2 tripod. Dan always had the time to talk to you and deeply loved his hobby. Dan will be sorely missed.

Re: I bought two Sleds! One has battle damage!
The foot locker looks like it belongs to a member of the Mountain Regiment 85 which was formed from the Infantry Regiment 85 in Oct 1940. The Mountain Regiment 85 was part of the 5th Mountain Division which I believe fought mostly in the Italian campaign and surrendered in Turin by the Americans tow...

Re: Advice on .308 build
Steve-- Sounds like a good set up for .308 Winchester (7.62mm). I also prefer to run my gun with the MG3 type Booster. Unfortunately, I had to machine off the flashhider due to local AAW laws but it still looks good. The good thing about the MG3 tray is that you can still use the belts in your gun. ...
